Chiropractic care is a branch of medicine pertaining to the health of the spine, nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors use spinal manipulation and other techniques to address the underlying conditions that are responsible for symptoms like back pain, neck pain, and chronic headaches. Chiropractic care is generally practiced free of the use of medications or invasive therapies and treatments. Instead, patients are encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles and eating habits to coincide with chiropractic adjustments and therapeutic exercises. Patients who follow the instructions of their chiropractors often experience less muscle tightness and overall pain.
Did you know…
that the use of chiropractic can be traced back as far as 2700 B.C.? Archeologists have discovered ancient writings from China and Greece that detail the use of spinal manipulation in an effort to alleviate lower back pain. Even the great Greek physician, Hippocrates, wrote extensively about his endorsement of spinal care. Today, chiropractic care is used around the world for the treatment of various diseases and conditions of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate for chiropractic treatment?
The only way to know if you are a candidate for chiropractic treatment is by consulting with Dr. Witherspoon for a complete clinical assessment. If you are not a candidate for chiropractic care, or if you require medical treatment beyond the scope of chiropractic, you will be referred to the appropriate specialist or practitioner.
What should I expect at Fix The Cause Chiropractic appointment?
At Dr. Witherspoon’s first visit, we provide a thorough consultation about the patient’s condition and a thorough Chiropractic examination. If needed, we recommend x-rays. We use x-rays to thoroughly review all the joints the doctor will be working on for the patient’s benefit. Pregnant women and small children do not require x-rays. Patients visit Dr. Witherspoon the next day or later to review his findings and if they agree, the doctor performs a “test adjustment” to see if their body will accept Chiropractic treatment. If they respond well, I offer to make recommendations that will help us work together to fix the cause of their problems and lead them toward health.
Will I need to follow any special instructions after my Fix The Cause Chiropractic appointment?
After your initial treatment, Dr. Witherspoon will likely recommend some activities to do at home to reduce inflammation. Sometimes, when a joint has not moved properly for a while and it is “adjusted” so it will begin moving better, that joint will be “irritated” by the new motion. Like breaking a bad habit, changing poor posture and reforming joints that have not moved correctly for a while takes time. Therefore, after Dr. Witherspoon knows your body will respond to Chiropractic treatment, he will carefully consider all the factors of your past health, combine that knowledge with the new information obtained through the new patient process, and he will offer his recommendations for your care.
